Pacific Ocean Color Experiment (POCEX)

a project of POCEX Working Group of PORSEC
the goal is to promote remote sensing science and technology in the Pacific region through the use of satellite ocean color data with the emphasis of social-benefits

1997 Feb. 15 Message from POCEX Secretary :¡@¡@
Dear PORSEC Participants

The Japanese Ocean Color and Temperature Scanner OCTS flying on the ADEOS Satellite, is now operating successfully, so it is time to move into the ground truth collection phase for the Pacific Ocean Color Experiment, POCEX. You can look forward to receiving data from the first of our four satellites to match your ground truth measurement. These should be generally useful for the management of your country's coastal zone.

I will be contacting you soon to see who needs a collection kit for chlorophyll and I will also be asking who needs fuel expenses for the collection program.

For those with Internet access, have you looked at our WWW page? The address is: http://sol.oc.ntu.edu.tw/POCEX/.

As I am faxing you at the moment I assume you do not have an e-mail address. If this is not the case and you are on e-mail could you please advise me of your address?

With kind regards

Yours sincerely,

Helen Young
POCEX Secretary

Opinions on the 3 channel numbers from the 8 channel SeaWIFS file that will form the R G B truecolor image:

In the latest RIG it was reported that
Peter Wakelin proposes Bands 6,5,3 (RGB).
Arne van Belle reports good results with 6,4,2 (RGB)
I myself had best results with 6,5,1 (RGB)
