The analysis of the TS diagrams of eight hydrographic surveys in spring, summer and autumn reveals that the water mass properties and their variation of I-Lan Bight and the shelf water northeast of Taiwan were basically consistent during the period from April to October. It implies that the shelf water at northeast of Taiwan might flow into the I-Lan Bight along the coast of Taiwan and then merge into the Kuroshio. The similarity of the I-Lan Bight water and the Kuroshio in March indicates that the latter might cross over the I-Lan Ridge and supply its water to the former in the winter time.
